Memorial
Diamonds
This
relatively young form of a funeral is already accepted in many European
countries
however it is still heavily discussed in Germany
and remains in a legal
blindspot.
After
the
cremation the remains of the deceased are transferred into a foreign
country
(usually to Switzerland)
where the carbon in the ash will be transformed into an artificial
diamond
under very high pressure and heat. Depending on how much of the ash is
used,
one single diamond or several smaller gems can be created.
Following
this process, the diamond will be cut and polished into a beautiful gem
which
is then sent back to the funeral home in Germany.
The remaining ash in the
urn can be given back to the bereaved and/or be interred.
Memorial
diamonds are not only a beautiful but also a lasting and absolutely
unique form
of a funeral for no gem is like the other.
